SFAS currently offers the following programs, trainings and services.
Element 1: Safe School Environments and Violence Prevention Activities
- In-school suspension law education classes
- PeaceWorks! Peer Mediation Training (http://cobbcast.cobbk12.org/)
- Too Good for Violence Program (anti-violence program for students k-12)
Element 2: Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drug Prevention Activities
- Too Good for Drugs Program (drug prevention program for k-12)
- Guiding Good Choices (parent training group on how to talk to your kids about drugs and alcohol)
- Gaining Results in Intervention and Prevention (“GRIP”) program (mandated seminar for students in violation of the drugs and alcohol policy)
- Family therapy services
Element 3: Student Behavioral, Social and Emotional Supports
- Truancy intervention services (i.e. truancy sweeps, truancy intervention panels and juvenile court)
- Nurturing Parenting/Nurturing Skills program (in-home parent training program)
- Kennesaw Teen Center
Element 4: Mental Health Services
- School-based mental health services
- Family Support Specialists
- Play therapy rooms (school-based services offered)
Element 5: Early Childhood Social and Emotional Learning Programs
- Early Intervention Specialist services (in-home counseling and support)
- Incredible Years parenting classes (for parents of children ages 2-8)
